Current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences by tweeting that Ratan Tata is one of the greatest visionary business persons, and a compassionate and great soul, extraordinary person.
“Ratan Tata remains loved because he was humble, kind, & committed to making society better; his loss is deeply personally & collectively,” PM Modi wrote in the X (previously Twitter).
Though he received his degree in architecture from Cornell University, he came back to India and joined the group established by his great grand father nearly a hundred years ago and started functioning independently in 1962.
He worked with many Tata groups, including Telco-Tata motors Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd and, later managed to bring market share up and wipe out losses at the group’s National Radio & Electronics COMPANIES
He got an opportunity to run the conglomerate in 1991 when his uncle J.R.D.Tata retired, a time when India liberalized it economy for globalization and ready for high growth.
During the period of Tata, the group introduced the cheapest car model in the world called Tata Nano and TCS became Tata’s information technology giant, Tata Consultancy Services.
Tata demitted the post of chairman in 2012 but then he was appointed as chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and other companies of this group such as Tata Motors and Tata steel. However, he was back in 2016 as the interim chairman of the organization due to a leadership squabbles.
